Call For Papers
Proposals are invited for the Tutorial Program of the 51th Annual Meeting
of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL 2013). The main
conference is to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on August 5-7, 2013. The
tutorials are scheduled for Sunday, August 4.
ACL 2013 seeks proposals for tutorials on all topics of computational
linguistics, broadly conceived to include areas such as cognitive modelling
of language processing and psycholinguistics, dialogue and interactive
systems, discourse, coreference and pragmatics, text mining and information
GSCL 2013 – Second Call for Papers
The bi-annual meeting of the German Society for Computational Linguistics and Language Technology (GSCL) in 2013 will take place from 25th to 27th September at Technische Universität Darmstadt organized by the UKP Lab, Department of Computer Science. See also http://gscl2013.ukp.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/ for details.
CALL FOR WORKSHOP & TUTORIAL PROPOSALS, GSCL 2013

SHARED TASK DESCRIPTION
We are excited to organize the first shared task in Native Language Identification (NLI) which is the task of identifying the native language (L1) of a writer based solely on a sample of their writing. The task is framed as a classification problem where the set of L1s is known a priori. Most work has focused on identifying the native language of writers learning English as a second language. This problem has been growing in popularity and has motivated several ACL, NAACL and EMNLP papers, as well as a master's and doctorate thesis.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Characteristic to all areas of human activity (from poetic to ordinary
to scientific) and, thus, to all types of discourse, metaphor becomes
an important problem for natural language processing. Its ubiquity in
language has been established in a number of corpus studies and the
role it plays in human reasoning has been confirmed in psychological
experiments. This makes metaphor an important research area for
computational and cognitive linguistics, and its automatic
identification and interpretation indispensable for any
semantics-oriented NLP application.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Submission deadline EXTENDED to 8 September (Sat).
