Description
The Postdoctoral Research Scientist will work as part of the Natural Language Processing Group, which is within the Department of Computer Science. The Natural Language group is a leader in the field of natural language processing, with expertise spanning language generation, text summarization, argumentation, spoken language processing and dialog systems.
PROGRAM DETAILS
The Postdoctoral Researcher will be involved in research on summarization and generation, with a focus on hallucination detection and mitigation. Research may involve multilingual summarization for low resource languages and dialects, taking cultural background of audience into account. Positions are for one year and are anticipated to start as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding.
The successful applicant will work with Professor Kathleen McKeown and collaborate with other researchers at Columbia as well as with researchers from the University of Illinois and New York University. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be expected to design novel approaches for the problem, publish papers on the research, and attend PI meetings. The researcher will also help in preparing the Columbia team evaluation system.
The postdoctoral research scientist will be based in New York City, NY. The position will run for 1 year with the possibility for extension depending on available funding:
* Funding ($72,116- $90,000)
* Mentorship from Professors Kathleen McKeown and other faculty in the NLP group
* Talks and workshops with AI experts
