Project Title: Using text analysis for chronic disease management

We are seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral candidate with a solid background
in Natural Language Processing to work with:
Kendall Ho, UBC, Faculty of Medicine, Dept. of Emergency Medicine
Giuseppe Carenini, UBC, Computer Science
Raymond Ng, UBC, Computer Science

The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record in areas including NLP,
text mining,  topic modeling, visual analytics and related fields.  Experience working
in the medical domain and/or some degree of clinical knowledge is an asset,
but not a requirement.

The post holder will contribute to research on text analysis in the medical domain,
with special emphasis on processing patient generated language
and on integrating text mining with data collected through wearables and sensors.

Applicants should be qualified at the PhD level (or equivalent) and must have
excellent interpersonal, writing and research skills, strong time management
and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and work
both independently and as a member of the research team.

The successful applicant will joint the newly established UBC Data Science Institute

and live in the wonderful city of Vancouver B.C.

Timescale of Appointment: 1 year, with the goal of applying for additional funding.
