New Editor-in-Chief of the TACL journal and changes in the TACL Steering Committee

Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) has appointed Ani Nenkova, of University of Pennsylvania, PA, USA, the new Co-Editor-in-Chief of the ACL-sponsored journal, Transactions of the ACL (https://www.transacl.org). Her term starts July 1, 2019 and runs for three years. She is replacing Lillian Lee, whose term expires at the end of 2019, and joining Brian Roark and Mark Johnson, who continue to serve as TACL EiCs. Ani Nenkova has been selected by an ACL-appointed 11-member TACL EiC Search Committee, led by Jan Hajic, using a transparent process, following an open Call for nominations issued in April 2019. The Call sparked wide interest to which seven well-qualified candidates responded and expressed their willingness to serve; ACL would like to thank all of those for their efforts and interest in helping the community. ACL also thanks Lillian Lee, the outgoing TACL EiC member, who has contributed so much during her term to the journal, and made sure the journal operates smoothly and efficiently; we are also grateful to Lillian that she is willing to introduce Ani to her new job during the transition period.

Please join us in congratulations to Ani, and we wish her all the best for the upcoming job, so important to all of us!

On a related note, earlier this year, Ido Dagan has resigned as the chair of the TACL Steering Committee. He has been asked to stay as a member, which he accepted. Subsequently, ACL has appointed Jan Hajic, a member of the TACL Steering Committee, to Chair the Steering Committee and also to chair the TACL EiC Search Committee, which he has accepted. ACL would like to express its gratitude to Ido Dagan, who has chaired the TACL Steering Committee for many years, for his support to TACL and his excellent work as the TACL Steering Committee chair.
