Semantic Textual Similarity (STS) measures the degree of equivalence in the underlying semantics of paired snippets of text. While making such an assessment is trivial for humans, constructing algorithms and computational models that mimic human level performance represents a difficult and deep natural language understanding problem. The 2017 STS shared task involves multilingual and cross-lingual evaluation of Arabic, Spanish and English data as well as a surprise language track to explore methods for cross-lingual transfer.

You are invited to participate in the CL-SciSumm Shared Task at BIRNDL 2016. The shared task will be on automatic paper summarization in the Computational Linguistics (CL) domain. The output summaries will be of two types: faceted summaries of the traditional self-summary (the abstract) and the community summary (the collection of citation sentences ‘citances’). We also propose to group the citances by the facets of the text that they refer to.

SIGMORPHON 2016 Shared Task: Morphological Reinflection
-------------------------------------------------------

Morphological analysis and generation of previously unseen word forms is a fundamental problem in NLP the accuracy of which is crucial for the success of many downstream tasks. Learning morphological inflection patterns from labeled data is a current challenge that is addressed by a number of papers published in various ACL-related venues.

Word sense disambiguation (WSD) has been a core research problem in computational linguistics since the very inception of the field. In recent years, there has been considerable interest in using lexical substitution as an extrinsic evaluation of WSD systems. This has led to a number of mono- and crosslingual evaluation competitions at SemEval and EVALITA. We now invite all researchers and industry professionals to participate in GermEval 2015: LexSub, the first lexical substitution task for the German language.
