Updated info for Student Dormitory Housing at Portland State University

UPDATE June 16:
  • Updated information about getting to the dorms from the airport, along with walking maps, can be found here.
  • Paid parking passes can be purchased from the PSU parking office. For parking information, please contact the parking office directly at:
    parking@pdx.edu or 503.725.8750
  • Student housing coordinators can be reached via Skype (Skype name: acl2011.conference) or phone (503-516-6150) if special assistance is required, such as when arriving very late in the evening. They will be at the Marriott Registration desk distributing dorm room keys on Sunday, June 19, from 3-6pm, and at the dorms after the Welcome Reception, from 9-10pm.

Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront (Conference Hotel)

Update May 24: All of the conference rate rooms have been filled, however there are a small number of rooms still available at the Marriott just below the standard rate. These rooms will be available to ACL attendees through Thursday, May 26th. To book one of these remaining rooms, use the following link or toll-free number:

Online: Marriott Reservation site for ACL/HLT 2011

    Phone: Group Reservations number, 1-800-266-9432

(See information at the very bottom of this page for our archived information about conference rate rooms at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront.)

RiverPlace Hotel

The RiverPlace hotel is right across the street from the Marriott, and will be used for one of the five parallel sessions during the main conference (M-W). It is thus the most convenient hotel for the conference other than Marriott itself. Some conference rate rooms are still available at the RiverPlace.

Reservation for the RiverPlace Hotel can be made online at www.riverplacehotel.com. Use the group code ACL2011 to receive the conference discount for Sunday-Tuesday nights.

Only 25 rooms are available at the RiverPlace hotel at the conference rate for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights (staying June 19-22), since this facility is being used just during the Main Conference (M-W). Longer reservations at the RiverPlace are possible, just not at the conference rate for every night (about an extra $60 per night for nights that fall outside of Sunday-Tuesday). For such a reservation, the days of your stay that fall in Sunday-Tuesday nights will be at conference rate; the rest at the regular rate. NOTE: if you are planning to reserve a room at the RiverPlace for some days at the conference rate and some days outside the conference rate period, you will need to call reservations at the hotel, since their website cannot handle such complications.

Other hotels near the Conference Hotel

There are several other hotels in the near vicinity of the Marriott. In particular, the Hotel Modera (one of the closest options shown in the map below) is just a few blocks away from the conference hotel, is considered quite nice with reasonable prices, and has availability for the conference week. See the map below for other options:
