TADA is back! We are pleased to announce the Call for Presentations for the 2026 New Directions in Analyzing Text as Data (TADA 2026), to be held October 5 at UC Berkeley. This interdisciplinary conference is a leading forum for research on the study of politics, society, and culture through computational analysis of text documents. Advances in natural language processing and language models have the potential to revolutionize how we study human society. But using these tools effectively, reliably, and equitably requires continuous dialog between experts across computational methods, social science, and the humanities.
We invite applications for research presentations of new work on theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects of text-as-data research, including applications. Programs from past meetings (https://textasdata.github.io/events/) demonstrate this community's history of bringing together researchers, practitioners, and scholars from many fields. While many participants have attended TADA for years, we also eagerly welcome new researchers!
TADA is a non-archival conference; there are no formal proceedings, and papers presented at the conference will not be distributed publicly by the conference. Submissions may be selected for presentation as a talk (i.e., within a panel), or as a poster. For presentations that are assigned a discussant, presenters are expected to provide a draft paper to their discussant approximately a week before the conference. We welcome any work, so long as it has not been presented at a previous TADA conference. Typically presenters may find it most useful to present on work in progress.
Submission Guidelines: Please submit an anonymized 1-page abstract at the conference website, which has further instructions: https://tada2026.org/. All submissions will undergo a peer-review process by the program committee, including Text as Data board members.
