Obituary

The ACL exec will send an obituary announcement to the membership by email in the case of passing away of:

  • ACL lifetime achievement award (LTA) winners,
  • ACL distinguished service award (DSA) winners,
  • ACL fellows,
  • ACL presidents and former presidents,
  • chairs and former chairs of the ACL chapters.

For cases where the above conditions are not satisfied, ACL will post the obituary on the ACL portal upon demand.

commemorations

There will be a single-slide memorium in the closing session of the international ACL conference for those who passed away in the previous year and satisfy the above conditions, as well as in the closing session of the ACL chapter meeting or EMNLP conference occurring most recently after their passing.

If people from the community would like to organize a longer-format commemoration during a *ACL conference for an ACL member who passed away, they must submit an application to the ACL Exec at least one month before the conference.
