1. Social media streamlining. New persistent Twitter accounts for EMNLP (@emnlpmeeting) and AACL (@aaclmeeting) are in place.

2. Survey on NLP groups and networks is on-going (March 2021).

3. Continuously extending the handbook, with input from publicity chairs. We added a draft timeline. Suggested hashtags are now in uppercase, as suggested for better screen reader support.

We encourage using consistent hashtags as below, for example

 * ACL announcements (e.g. election results): #NLProc and #ACLNLP (together)
 * ACL Conference hashtag: #ACL<year>NLP (uppercase use started in Dec 2020)
  * EACL: #EACL<year>
  * NAACL: #NAACL<year>
  * EMNLP: #EMNLP<year>
  * AACL: #AACL<year>

4. Two items are currently on hold: We aimed a launch of the blog post together with the new ACL website; this is delayed. We plan to revisit this after the spring semester. In future, we would like to organize a workshop on publicity and how to present research at ACL (currently postponed to next year, preference for on-site event).

5. There is a joint call for workshops in place, but as far as we know there is no process to streamline the announcement of all accepted workshops. We contacted all respective workshops chairs, gathered the list and disseminated it via our member email list and social media.

6. Overview of Social Media presence and number of members

Current follower/member status:

  • July 3, 2020: Twitter (@aclmeeting: 4,305), Facebook (332), LinkedIn members (278), Instagram (485).
  • March 2, 2021: Twitter (@aclmeeting: 8,082), Facebook (438), LinkedIn members (474), Instagram (459).

Note: Instagram is only used during on-site conferences.
