Maria is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she leads the Boulder Language and Social Technologies group. Before joining CU, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Microsoft Research NYC. Maria completed her PhD in Computer Science at Purdue University, and her BSc. in Computer Science and Engineering at the Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela, where she was born and raised. Maria is also an active organizer for Queer in AI and LatinX in AI.
