David Suendermann-Oeft's research focuses on speech and natural language processing, dialog systems, and other applications of machine learning and signal processing. He worked at multiple industrial and academic institutions including Siemens (Munich), RWTH (Aachen), UPC (Barcelona), USC (Los Angeles), Columbia University (New York), SpeechCycle (New York), Synchronoss (New York), and ICSI (Berkeley). Aged 33, he was appointed full professor of computer science (with tenure) and a year later department head at the DHBW (Stuttgart) where he has also been heading the Spoken Dialog System Research Center. Since 2014, David is director of the Dialog, Multimodal, and Speech (DIAMONDS) research center at the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and also manages ETS's San Francisco Office. He has authored over 100 publications and patents including two books and ten chapters and holds a PhD from the Bundeswehr University in Munich.
