Special issue on Natural Language Processing
for Information Access and its Evaluation

Roles that natural language processing technologies plays
are getting important, as sophistication and
diversification of information access increase. Cross
language information retrieval and spoken document
retrieval use machine translation and document analysis
respectively, and have established new styles of
information access. Question answering needs several
natural language processing technologies such as textual
entailment recognition. At the same time, such use of
those in the information access field affords to natural
language processing technologies opportunities to be
evaluated in their contribution to that field. There have
been a lot of evaluation experiments and evaluation
workshops. Viewing natural language processing from such
perspectives may create new paradigms. Driven by these
interests, we invite papers on natural language processing
for information access and its evaluation.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* Natural language processing tasks for information access,
such as machine translation, question answering, and
information extraction
* Information access methods using natural language
processing technologies
* Evaluation frameworks for natural language processing
technologies on information access
* Resource design and construction for natural language
processing on information access

The Journal of Natural Language Processing is a quarterly association
