=======================================================

Greetings from Korea for ACL 2012!

The local organizing committee members are working hard to make ACL 2012 one of the most successful and memorable annual meetings of ACL. Following Jeju Travel Tips in the first newsletter, we have included updated hotel information in this newsletter. There is a full range of accommodation in Jeju, but you may want to act as early as possible to secure your options. We are also happy to announce the first call for papers by SIGDAT and SIGNLL for EMNLP-CoNLL 2012. Please note that the paper submission deadline for EMNLP-CoNLL is March 28, 2012. Please note also that ACL student workshop paper submission deadline is 20 February and fast approaching, to be followed by the deadline for other submissions to ACL. We look forward to seeing you all in Korea!

Local Organizing Chairs, Gary Geunbae Lee and Jong C. Park

5. Shared Task: Modeling Multilingual Unrestricted Coreference in OntoNotes

EMNLP-CoNLL 2012 will continue the CoNLL tradition of having the highest profile shared task in the NLP world. This year's task will be automatic anaphoric mention detection and coreference resolution using the English, Chinese and Arabic language portions of the OntoNotes 5.0 data given predicted information on the other layers.

The shared task is described in its own Call for Participation (http://aclweb.org/portal/content/conll-2012-shared-task). For detailed information and submissions, please see the shared task web page (http://conll.cemantix.org/2012/). Questions about the CoNLL-2012 shared task can be sent to conll-2012-st [at] cemantix.org.

In order to receive future calls and other information about the shared task, participants should register their intent to participate, in either or both of the two tracks, by sending an e-mail to conll-2012-st [at] cemantix.org. Although the deadline for registration is not until January 22, 2012, we recommend participants to register as early as possible, in order not to miss any information.
