CALL FOR PAPERS

The Asia Information Retrieval Societies Conference (AIRS) aims to bring
together researchers and developers working in the field of information
retrieval (IR) to present new research results, exchange new ideas and
demonstrate new systems. The scope of the conference covers applications,
systems, technologies and theory aspects of information retrieval in text,
audio, image, video and multimedia data. The 15th AIRS (AIRS 2019) will be
hosted by the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) in Hong Kong, China.
We welcome submissions of original papers in the broad field of information
retrieval. Accepted papers will be published as part of the LNCS series
from Springer, and will be EI-indexed. Note that the main conference
presentations are in Nov 8-9 with the date period right after EMNLP-IJCNLP
conference also held in Hong Kong.

Technical issues covered include, but are not limited to:
IR theory and formal models
IR evaluation, test collections and evaluation measures, experimental design
IR user models, behavioral analysis
IR user interfaces, visualization, user studies
Interactive IR, conversational IR, dialogue systems
Query intent, search result diversification, personalization and privacy
Web search, enterprise search, link analysis, adversarial IR
Distributed IR, IR efficiency and scalability
Digital libraries
Cross-language retrieval, machine translation for IR
Mobile IR, multimedia IR, social media IR
Filtering and recommendation
Text mining and natural language processing for IR
Deep learning/machine learning for IR
IR applications (e.g. educational, legal, political, medical)

Important Dates
Submissions due (full, short, and demo papers): 6 July, 2019
Notification of acceptance: 24 Aug, 2019
Camera-ready deadline: 9 Sep, 2019
Early-bird registration closes: 17 Sep, 2019
Online registration closes: 21 Oct, 2019
On-site registration: 22 Oct - 9 Nov, 2019
AIRS 2019 conference: 7 - 9 Nov, 2019
All deadlines are in GMT.

Paper types
AIRS 2019 accepts the following three types of papers.
Full papers: The page limit for full papers is 12 pages in the LNCS format.
Short papers: The page limit for short papers is 6 pages in the LNCS format.
Compared to full papers, the contribution of short papers may be narrower
in scope, be applied to a narrower set of application domains, or have weaker
empirical support than that expected for a full paper. Submissions
likely to generate discussions in new and emerging areas are especially encouraged.
Demo papers: The page limit for demo papers is 6 pages in the LNCS format.
Demo papers present first-hand experience with research prototypes or
operational systems. They provide opportunities to exchange ideas gained from
implementing IR systems, and to obtain feedback from expert users.

All accepted full, short, and demo papers will be included in the LNCS
conference proceedings.

Submission Instructions
Please follow the default author instructions for LNCS available at
http://www.springer.com/jp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-....
In addition, please "anonymize" your paper to facilitate double-blind reviewing. Submissions that do not follow the guideline and those that exceed the page limit will be rejected without review. Duplicate submissions (the same paper being submitted to AIRS 2019 and to another conference at the same time), if detected, will also be rejected without review.

Please submit your paper to EasyChair at
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=airs2019
by the aforementioned submission deadline. Once your paper gets accepted,
you will be asked to send us a signed copyright form available at the above
Springer website. At least one author per paper must register and present the
work at the conference.
