The 8th International Joint Conference on Natural Language Processing (IJCNLP 2017), organized by National Taiwan Normal University and The Association for Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing (ACLCLP) and hosted by The Asian Federation of Natural Language Processing (AFNLP) Associations, was held in Taipei on November 27 – December 1, 2017.

The conference chair is Chengqing Zong, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The program committee co-Chairs are Greg Kondrak, University of Alberta and Taro Watanabe, Google. The organization committee co-chairs are Hsin-Hsi Chen (National Taiwan University), Yuen-Hsien Tseng (National Taiwan Normal University), Chung-Hsien Wu (National Cheng Kung University) and Liang-Chih Yu (Yuan Ze University). Six tutorials and three pre-conference workshops were held in Nov. 27, 2017. Three-day main conference was from Nov. 28 to 30, 2017, and the post-conference workshops for shared-tasks (5 tasks) were held in Dec. 1, 2017.

The main conference received 580 submissions, including 337 long papers and 243 short papers. 179 papers have been accepted, including 103 long papers (30.6%) and 76 short papers (31.3%). Figure 1 shows the distribution of the submitted and accepted papers in different areas. The total number of participants is 445.
