Massimo Poesio is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Essex (UK) and Chair of Digital Humanities at the University of Trento (Italy). After working on speech understanding at CSELT Labs (Italy) and on temporal reasoning at the University of Hamburg, he got his PhD in 1993 from the University of Rochester (US), then spent eight years at the University of Edinburgh, HCRC / Centre for Cognitive Science. He has been at the University of Essex since 2001 and at the University of Trento since 2006. His research interests are in semantics (in particular semantics of dialogues), discourse (in particular anaphora resolution), the acquisition of commonsense knowledge, and corpus annotation.
