About the ACL

The Association for Computational Linguistics is THE international scientific and professional society for people working on problems involving natural language and computation. Membership includes the ACL quarterly journal, Computational Linguistics, reduced registration at most ACL-sponsored conferences, discounts on ACL-sponsored publications, and participation in ACL Special Interest Groups.

Call for Bids to Host ACL-IJCNLP-2009

The Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) and Asian Federation of Natural Language Processing (AFNLP) hereby invite proposals to host the joint conference in Asia in 2009. This conference will be the 47th annual meeting of the ACL and the 4th bi-annual meeting of the IJCNLP.

At this time, we seek draft proposals from prospective bidders. Based on an evaluation of the draft proposals received, promising bidders will be asked to provide additional information as needed for the final selection.

Call for Bids to Host ACL-2010

The Association for Computational Linguistics invites proposals to host the 48th Annual Meeting of the ACL, to be held in Europe in June or July, 2010.

At this time, we seek draft proposals from prospective bidders. Based on an evaluation of the draft proposals, promising bidders will be asked to provide additional information for the final selection process.

51st Annual Meeting of the ACL

The 51st Annual Meeting of the ACL in 2013 will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria. Svetla Koeva (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) will be local chair and Hinrich Schuetze (University of Stuttgart) general chair. Pascale Fung (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology) and Massimo Poesio (University of Essex) have agreed to serve as program cochairs.

I first met Eva, 26 years ago, at Coling in Tokyo, 1980.
