The language of the conference is English.

Climate and Clothing

In April it is spring in Avignon (France). The temperature can vary from 8 to 20°C. Warning for occasional showers. There is a high probability to have Mistral in April (strong wind). The organisers suggest that you bring a jacket or pullover and a raincoat.

Passport and Visas

Local Currency/Money exchange

Euro is the official currency in France. 

An exchange office is available next to the tourist office in Avignon.

Electricity
Electricity in France is 230 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second. Generally, the plugs are two round pins.

The organisers are not liable for any claims for damages and/or losses if the entire conference has to be cancelled due to a force majeure incident.

Insurance and Vaccinations
The registration fee does not cover insurance for the delegates. The organisers recommend that delegates take out insurance in their home country to cover pre-journey cancellation for personal reasons and necessary insurance to cover accidents, medical expenses and loss of personal belongings during the visit.

You should call 112 if anything happens which means that an ambulance, the police or the fire brigade need to be called out. 112 is a special emergency number you can call wherever you are from a fixed or a mobile telephone.

Shopping
Most stores in Avignon are open 10.00-19.00 on weekdays and Saturdays. Grocery stores usually have longer opening hours. 

Eating
There are plenty of restaurants in Avignon. You will find information about many of them in your conference bag.  

Smoking
Smoking is not allowed in the conference venues, nor in any public indoor establishments such as restaurants and bars.
