The ACL stands with the Black community to affirm that Black lives matter and to condemn racial injustice in the USA and worldwide, including targeted racially motivated violence of any kind (physical, mental, emotional), and academic structures that prevent Black scientists from thriving in our community. In particular, in solidarity with the Black community in North America, the ACL mourns for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Regis Korchinski-Paquet, and thousands of Black people who have lost their lives to this violence.

The ACL has significantly grown its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives. We are committed to improving this work to make our community diverse and accessible to everyone.

As is our responsibility, the ACL will regularly seek feedback and update its members on these initiatives and our community progress.
