SIGWrit was founded in 2024, following the first Workshop on Computation and Written Language (CAWL) held at ACL 2023.

Elections
Our first election was held in December 2024, with terms beginning in January 2025. The elected officers are:
- President: Kyle Gorman
- Vice-President: Constantine Lignos
- Secretary-Treasurer: Zoey Liu
- Student Member: Claytone Sikasote
As per our constitution, the next election will be held in December 2026.
Activities this year
We held the third CAWL workshop at LREC 2026 in Mallorca.
Planned activities
- We are developing a co-affiliation proposal with ELRA.
- We will propose a *CL workshop for 2027 as well.
