SIGFinTech currently has 166 members from academic, industrial, financial, and public-sector organizations worldwide.

ORGANIZATION

SIGFinTech held an officer election in September 2025 for the 2026–2028 term. The elected officers are:

  • Chair: Chung-Chi Chen

WORKSHOP

The SIG’s major annual event is the Workshop on Financial Technology and Natural Language Processing (FinNLP). The workshop has been organized since 2019 and brings together researchers and practitioners working on NLP, machine learning, large language models, finance, economics, and law. Its proceedings are published in the ACL Anthology.

The 10th Workshop on Financial Technology and Natural Language Processing was held in conjunction with EMNLP 2025 in Suzhou, China, on November 9, 2025. The main track received 31 submissions and accepted 17 papers, corresponding to an acceptance rate of 54.8%. The complete proceedings contain 27 papers, including main-track papers and contributions associated with the FinEval shared-task activities.

FinNLP 2025 also included three invited-talk sessions representing perspectives from human–computer interaction, industry, and linguistics. The invited speakers were Saeed Abdullah, Shi-Xiong Zhang, Sambit Sahu, and Andrea Rocci.

The 11th Workshop on Financial Technology and Natural Language Processing has been accepted for co-location with EMNLP 2026. It is scheduled for October 28, 2026, in Budapest, Hungary. FinNLP 2026 will support both direct workshop submissions and commitments of papers previously reviewed through ACL Rolling Review. It will also continue the FinEval initiative by inviting proposals for financial NLP and financial AI evaluation challenges. Accepted papers will be published in the ACL Anthology.

SEMINARS AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH

In addition to the annual workshop, SIGFinTech organizes the biweekly ACL SIGFinTech × TFAI Webinar Series. The seminars provide an ongoing platform for invited and volunteer speakers to present research and exchange ideas with the financial NLP community. Recordings of the seminars and other research presentations are made publicly available through the ACL SIGFinTech YouTube channel, enabling participation and access beyond the live events.

WEBSITE AND COMMUNICATION

SIGFinTech maintains an active website containing information about its mission, membership, annual FinNLP workshops, FinEval shared tasks, proceedings, and seminar activities. New members may join through an online form. The SIG also operates a moderated Google Group for announcements and community communication, as well as a public YouTube channel for seminar and workshop recordings.
