2026Q3 Reports: Publicity Director

There has been steady growth of the social media accounts, especially on X and LinkedIn.

(1) Chinese outreach We now have a new account (aclmeeting) on the Chinese social media platform to reach to a large audience who do not have access to other platforms: RedNote (https://xhslink.com/m/45NHha8wf2f). Many thanks to Tianyi Liang.

This account is semi-automatically fed using the posts on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/groups/10484931/). That is, if any posts by the *ACL publicity chairs is posted on LinkedIn, it is translated to Chinese and posted on RedNote. Personal notes will not be posted. We have seen good interactions with this platform, in some cases resolving some of the questions that the community had and posted on this platform. Current followers count is 2180 (created post EACL'26).

The handbook of the publicity is under changes to reflect this and we post a new version to ACLweb and git repository soon.

(2) Interactions with publicity chairs

ACL Mattermost in many cases has improved the interactions between the chairs and the publicity director when the conferences opt to use mattermost among their chairs (e.g., EMNLP 2025, 2026)

(3) Publicity chair selection As per the discussions in the previous exec meeting, ACL 2027, is taking up a different approach in their choice of publicity chairs with at least one chair being senior and taking the lead and coordination between the chairs and the publicity director.
