AACL 2020 Conference

The organizing committee of AACL/IJCNLP 2020 was established in 2019. The Conference Coordination Committee appointed Kam-Fai Wong as General Chair, Kevin Knight and Hua Wu as Program Co-Chairs, and Min Zhang as Local Chair. Later, Workshop, Tutorial, Demo, Publication, Publicity, Student Workshop Chairs, Sponsorship Coordinators, and Webmaster were also appointed.

The first call for papers was released on November 28, 2019. Important dates are listed as follows:

  • 09/30/2020: Camera ready papers due

Seven workshops will be held during AACL/IJCNLP 2020, covering a wide range of topics: Asian language translation, multilingual surface realization, low-resource language translation, life-long learning, knowledgeable NLP, educational application, and discourse processing.

The call for sponsorship was sent out on February 28, 2020. The negative effect of the coronavirus outbreak on global economy might make it more difficult for inviting sponsors than usual.

Plan

The chapter board holds online discussions regularly by email. The annual chapter board meeting will be held in July during ACL 2020 at Seattle. According to the AACL Constitution, each board member serves a two-year term of office. As the current founding board was established in 2018, forming a nominating committee to oversee the election of new board members will be discussed on the board meeting. The board meeting will also discuss the organization of AACL/IJCNLP 2020 to be held in December.
