2017Q3 Reports: Publicity Chairs

Besides disseminating information on multiple mailing lists early on, the main tasks leading up to the conference has been mainly the communication with several chairs to curate social media contents and announcements on Twitter and Facebook. Multiple attempts were made to establish communication with the press office at SFU and several TV stations, but there were no response from them. A general ACL instagram account has been registered, which is linked to the ACL organization and not specific to a conference year. The plan is, besides the photo cataloging, to use the Stories features to conduct 15-second-interviews throughout the conference to help promote work, increase activity engagement, and, in a way, break the ice for different groups of people in the community. Facebook and Twitter will be updated during the conference and promoted via hashtags and mentions used by the community.
