General Information

  1. Submission, and camera ready dates have been agreed for the main conference and satellite events together with the publication chairs.
  2. Calls have been out for the main conference and all satellite events except for workshops. There is a meeting at ACL to decide the format and the call dates (since the call is for all conferences). Also, my understanding is that this year they want to elicit a popularity vote for the workshop proposals which complicates matters. This is especially relevant for EACL as it is the earliest of the 2017 conferences.
  3. The Student Research Workshop chairs have set up their own page (https://sites.google.com/site/eaclsrw2017/) and everything seems to be going smoothly on their end.
  4. Our publication chairs will issue the ACL style files for the main conference by the time ACL takes place.
  5. We decided not to make the demo papers anonymous as we felt it is impossible to actually look at the systems without revealing the identity of the authors (this was the same in the last conference).
  6. The Program chairs are working on selecting the area chairs (they have a first draft), they should be finalizing it by the end of this week.
  7. Softconf has been set up for the conference and the satellite events.
  8. I will be asking the program chairs to come up with names for invited speakers next (we are planning for three speakers, one per day).
  9. The local team have been absolutely great, very responsive to all our requests. They have set up a twitter account for the conference: https://twitter.com/EACL2017
