EACL 2017

Report by Lluís Màrquez

The organization of EACL 2017 has continued with two important highligts. First, the contracts between ACL and the local organizers were all signed in October-November 2015. A PCO (Grupo Pacifico) has been used as an intermediary because it was more convenient than signing the contracts with the University of Valencia. Second, the Coordinating Committee started appointing the main chairs of the conference. The General Chair will be Mirella Lapata ()

The EACL conference will take place in April 2017.

EACL Sponsorships

• EACL supports ESSLLI 2015 by sponsoring 5 students with a maximum amount of 550 Euros each.
• EACL supports CLEF2015 by sponsoring 1 student

EACL shorts

• The two EACL sponsorship chairs for the ACL International Sponsorship Committee are still to be appointed. We have indentified several good candidates and they are being approached during these days. We will try to appoint them as soon as possible.

EACL Elections

Two of our student board members, Desmond Elliott and Douwe Kiela, have just finished their 2-year term in June. After elections, which took place in early June 2015, the replacements fo their positions are:

• Florian Kunneman, Radboud University Nijmegen
• John Camilleri, Chalmers University of Technology and University of Gothenburg

The EACL welcomes the new members of the EACL Student Board and greatly thanks the outgoing members for their service to the CL community.

Giorgio Satta and Kiril Simov came to the end of their term on the Nominating Committee. The EACL Board decided to nominate Stephen Clark and Vivi Nastase as new members of the Nominating Committee.
