The SIG currently has 140 members and it still operated under the founding officers.
Currently plans for an election of new officers are underway.
The main activity of the SIG MT was the organization of the 10th Workshop on Statistical Machine Translation, which includes four official shared tasks, one for machine translation, one for automatic post-editing, one for quality estimation methods, and one for machine translation evaluation methods. The workshop will take place in October in association with the EMNLP conference.
The second workshop organized under the umbrella of SIG MT is the 8th Workshop on Syntax, Semantics and Structure in Statistical Translation, which took place in June in association with the NAACL conference.
