2015Q3 Reports: COLING 2014

COLING 2014 took place between Monday August 25th and Friday August 29th 2014 in Dublin, Ireland. The weekend before the main conference was reserved for workshops and tutorials meaning that the whole event spanned a full 7 days.

The main programme received 705 eligible submissions, of which 217 were accepted for the conference. The main programme featured 20 tracks and the overall programme committee was overseen by Jan Hajic and Junichi Tsujii.

807 pre registered delegates attended the conference with additional registrations on site. Over 300 of those pre registered delegates (307) also attended a workshop and over 100 (108) also attended one of the 6 tutorials on offer.

Two best paper awards, kindly sponsored by IBM Watson, were made to Daojian Zeng, Kang Liu, Siwei Lai, Guangyou Zhou and Jun Zhao for their paper on Relation Classification via Convolutional Deep Neural Network; and also to Andrea Vanzo, Danilo Croce and Roberto Basili for their paper on A context-based model for Sentiment Analysis in Twitter.

The conference was generously sponsored by (in no particular order) Baidu, eBay, Microsoft, Symantec, Google, Boabab and IBM Watson.
