The SIG currently has 134 members and it still operated under the founding officers.
Currently plans for an election of new officers is underway.
The main activity of the SIG MT was the organization of the 9th Workshop on Statistical Machine Translation, which includes three official shared tasks, one for machine translation (including medical translation), one for quality estimation methods, and one for machine translation evaluation methods. The workshop will take place in June in association with the main ACL conference.
The second workshop organized under the umbrella of SIG MT is the 8th Workshop on Syntax, Semantics and Structure in Statistical Translation, which will took place in June in association with the EMNLP conference.
