SIGTurk Report 2026

SIGTurk had two major activities since the last report.

1) Elections for SUG officers were held in February 2026. The following offices were elected

• President: Kemal Oflazer — Carnegie Mellon University (29 votes)
• Secretary: Gözde Gül Şahin — Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (29 votes)

Board Members (5 seats)

• Abdullatif Köksal — Google DeepMind (21 votes)
• Dilara Keküllüoğlu — Sabancı University (19 votes)
• İlker Kesen — University of Copenhagen (19 votes)
• Jonne Saleva — Brandeis University (17 votes)

2) We held our second SIGTurk Workshop on March 29l 2026, on the sidelines of the EACL Conference recently held in Rabat, Morocco. The workshop was attended by over 30 participants. There were 28 papers submitted for the workshop: 8 were accepted as Oral presentations and 11 as Poster presentations. There was also a shared task Organized by Gözde Gül Şahin and her team on Terminology-Aware Machine Translation for English-Turkish Scientific Texts to which four teams submitted their systems for evaluation.
