2025Q1 Reports: CL Journal
The journal reached a significant milestone by the end of 2024 (50th anniversary). We released an editorial ("Opening a New Chapter for Computational Linguistics") to celebrate this special moment, and introduced new changes to the journal by setting a fresh vision.
Highlights:
- We have released new Latex style files to better support papers with long author lists (which is increasingly common today).
- We now have social media accounts on X and Bluesky (@CompLingJournal). Information such as journal news and latest issues will be shared there.
- We have expanded our list of action editors and standing reviewers. We have also implemented strategies to recruit reliable and committed members of the community to our editorial board (e.g., working together with ARRs).
- We are launching distinguished publication programs to showcase significant and impactful work published in the journal.
- We are introducing 'position papers' as a new category to facilitate discussions on future research directions.
- Together with ACL ExCo, we have launched the "Computational Linguistics Dissertation Award" for our community. In the inaugural call, we received 29 nominations. The selection committee comprises Jason Eisner (NAACL), Julia Hockenmaier (NAACL), Yang Liu (AACL), Alice Oh (AACL), Ivan Titov (EACL), and Anna Korhonen (EACL). Kathy McKeown has also agreed to chair the process. The first award will be presented at ACL 2025.
