Membership

SIGLEX currently has 467 members. SIGLEX has two sections: Multiword Expressions (MWE) with [...] members, and SemEval with [...] members.

Officers

The current SIGLEX Executive Board includes the following officers:

President: Marianna Apidianaki, University of Pennsylvania, USA

Secretary: Tiago Torrent, Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Brazil

Vice-President Elect: Massimo Poesio, Queen Mary University, UK

Vice-Secretary Elect: Steven Schockaert, University of Cardiff, UK

MWE section representative: Verginica Barbu Mititelu, Romanian Academy Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Romania

SemEval section representative: Xiaodan Zhu, Queen's University, Canada

Note: All officers are serving until Fall 2026 except from Massimo Poesio who announced that he would be stepping down in Summer 2025. We will hold new elections for this position in June 2025. The Vice-President who will be elected will serve for three years and will become President of the following SIGLEX board that will start in Fall 2026. The current Vice-Secretary will automatically become the Secretary of the following SIGLEX board and thus this position requires a four-year commitment.

Elections

An exceptional SIGLEX election will be held in June 2025 to elect a new Vice-President since the current Vice-President is stepping down. This position will require a three-year commitment. A call for nominations was sent out on 14 March 2025 and closed on 14 April 2025. The election is expected to begin on June 14.

Another SIGLEX election will be held in Spring-Summer 2026 to elect the board for the Fall 2026 - Summer 2028 term.
