== AACL / IJCNLP 2020 Conference ==

The organizing committee of AACL/IJCNLP 2020 was established in 2019. The Conference Coordination Committee appointed Kam-Fai Wong as General Chair, Kevin Knight and Hua Wu as Program Co-Chairs, and Min Zhang as Local Chair. Later, Workshop, Tutorial, Demo, Publication, Publicity, Student Workshop Chairs, Sponsorship Coordinators, Remote Presentation, and Webmaster were also appointed. The list of area chairs of the Program Committee was released in March, 2020.

Important dates are listed as follows:

*06/26/2020: Submission due (long & short papers)
*09/11/2020: Notification of acceptance
*10/05/2020: Camera ready papers due
*12/04/2020: Main conference

The deadline of submission has passed. The conference received more than 400 submissions.

Besides seven workshops, six tutorials that will be held during AACL/IJCNLP 2020 were announced in March, covering a wide range of topics: financial technology applications, healthcare, self-supervised deep learning, expandability, applications of Transformers, and debating technologies.

Due to issues surrounding COVID-19, the organizing committee decided that AACL-IJCNLP 2020 will be virtual. Physical presence will not be required. Program Chairs, Local Chair, and Remote Presentation Chairs will follow the practice of ACL 2020 to organize the virtual conference.

== Plan ==

According to the AACL Constitution, each board member serves a two-year term of office. Due to the expiration of the term of office of current board members, the board will set up a nominating committee to oversee the election of new board members in late 2020.

The conference coordination committee will work with the organization committee of AACL/IJCNLP 2020 to ensure the success of our first conference, especially during this difficult time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
