== Activities ==

=== Biennial Meeting ===

The main activity of the SIG is the organization of the biennial meeting “Mathematics of Language (MoL)”.
The previous meeting, MoL 15, was held at Queen Mary University of London July 13-14, 2017.
The local organizer was Mehrnoosh Sadrzadeh. The meeting received 23 submissions, 11 of which
were accepted for presentation. The proceedings of the meeting have been published in the ACL Anthology.
The next meeting (MoL 16) will be held during the summer of 2019, probably in Toronto, with Gerald Penn
from the Department of Computer Science of the University of Toronto as the local organizer. The precise dates
and location will be settled in the current of this summer 2018.

=== Kuroda Prize ===

The SIG awards the S.-Y. Kuroda Prize for lasting contributions to the mathematics of language.
The 2017 prize was awarded to James Rogers of Earlham College (http://www.molweb.org/award-2017.html).
The award ceremony was held during MoL 15.

=== Members and Officers ===

As of 2016-07-01 SIGMOL has 282 registered members. Its current officers are president Philippe de Groote
(Inria Nancy, France) and vice president Frank Drewes ( Umeå universitet, Sweden). Their terms will end at the
next business meeting of the SIG, which will be held in connection with MoL 16. At this time the vice president
will take over the duties of the president, and the outgoing president will take over the duties of the vice president,
until a new vice president will be elected at the beginning of 2020.
