==EACL-2020==

The University of Malta is in the last phase of submitting a complete bid for EACL 2020. EACL 2020 will be the first in our new rhythm or conference organization (twice every three years, on years ACL main conference is not in Europe). Currently, the expected period for the conference is late March, 2020.

* EACL has funded 11 students with a grant of up to 550 euros for ESSLLI 2018.

==EACL Plans==

* Reorganization of the website. The student board of EACL, is still working on a new version of the EACL website which will be more modern, better updated, and better integrated with social media. The basic website structure is in place and content is being added.

* Better outreach to the Middle East and Africa is still on the agenda.

* Better outreach and cooperation with European organizations. EACL is the process of contacting the local, regional, national, and European organizations on Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing in order to achieve two goals: better representation of the whole of the European research community at ACL, and creating opportunities for joint organization of events (for example the EACL conferences when not co-organized with ACL). A structure will be proposed in which this cooperation can be institutionalized.

==EACL Board==

* The EACL nominating committee will elect new board members by the end of this year for the period 2019-2022 to replace Iryna Gurevych, Roberto Navigli, and Stephan Oepen.

* The search for researchers to join the conference sponsorship committee for EACL has resulted in the appointment of Georg Rehm (DFKI) to this committee. Next year, an additional member will be appointed.

* Fernando Alva Manchego (EACL student board) will be the member of the ACL SRW for EACL.
