This report briefly describes the work of the ACL 2025 Best Paper Award Committee, headed by Rada Mihalcea and Roi Reichart, from the point of view of the best paper award committee chairs.

As a first step, we recruited the committee members. The finalized committee consisted of the following members:

1. Alexander Clark, 2. Anette Frank, 3. Andreas Vlachos, 4. Carlo Strapparava, 5. Dan Goldwasser, 6. David Bamman, 7. Ellie Pavlick, 8. Hila Gonen, 9. Isabelle Augenstein, 10. Ivan Vulic, 11. Jacob Eisenstein, 12. Joachim Nivre, 13. Jimmy Lin, 14. Julia Hockenmaier, 15. Luciana Benotti, 16. Manuel Montes Y. Gomez, 17. Mrinmaya Sachan, 18. Parisa Kordjamshidi, 19. Ray Mooney, 20. Reut Tzarfaty, 21. Smaranda Muresan, 22. Soujanya Poria, 23. Stephen Pulman, 24. Thamar Solorio, 25. Yue Zhang, and 26. Yusuke Miyao.

By the end of May 2025 we received the list of all papers that were recommended by at least one SAC for a paper award - best, outstanding, resource, theme or social impact. This list consisted of 117 papers.

We randomly assigned the papers to the committee members so that each paper would receive two reviews and the load is evenly distributed between committee members. The evaluation form filled by each committee member for each of their assigned papers can be found below:

All the reviews were submitted on time - a few days before the final decision deadline of June 12.

In the last step of the process the committee chairs read the evaluations and chose the awarded papers: 4 best papers, 27 outstanding papers, 2 best social impact papers, 3 best resource papers, and 3 theme award papers. The list was sent to the PC chairs on June 12, 2025.

In the following days, the ACL 2025 PC chairs went over the list, clarified any relevant issues with the Best Paper Committee chairs, and ultimately approved the list as is.

We thank the ACL 2025 Program Committee chairs and the General Chair for the privilege of managing this process, and for their collaborative and supportive approach. We also extend our sincere thanks to the ACL 2025 Best Paper Committee members for their dedicated service and high-quality reviews.

Sincerely, Rada Mihalcea and Roi Reichart The ACL 2025 Best Paper Award Committee Chairs
