--ACL Executive Committee--

(1) Communication. ACL Executive Committee members communicate through Mattermost Server. If it is necessary to invite some people to discuss a specific topic, we set up a dedicated Chanel. For example, to discuss the handling of reported papers, we invited the Publication Ethics Committee (PEC) Co-chairs to join the discussion and the "ACL EXE+PEC" Chanel was specifically established.

(2) Policies. ACL is the most authoritative and influential international academic organization in the fields of computational linguistics and natural language processing, and must maintain academic norms and fairness in this field. The continuously increasing and improving ACL Policies have played a good role in this regard. In this year some ACL Policies, such as Authorship Changes Policy for ACL Conference Papers, ACL Award Policy, Scientific Integrity Policy, and The Policy on Publication Ethics, have been updated and improved to make them more reasonable and fair.

For the details of the policies, please see the website: https://aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=ACL_Policies

According to The Policy on Publication Ethics, ACL Executive Committee has worked closely with PEC to handle three cases of problematic papers and effectively uphold academic ethics standards.

(3) Member replacement. The smooth operation of the ACL Executive Committee cannot be separated from the strong support and selfless dedication of numerous members. We sincerely thank those who have made significant contributions to the Executive Committee! Dr. Shiqi Zhao served as the Secretary of ACL from 2016 until he successfully handed over to Dr. Feng Yang last year, and has been assisting Dr. Feng Yang in his work. He will step down at the end of this year. On behalf of the Executive Committee, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to him for his tremendous efforts and great contributions to ACL! Dr. Chris Callison Burch has been serving as Sponsorship Director since 2023 and will be stepping down at the end of this year. He is currently working with his successor, Dr. Joel Tetreault., Dataminr, United States. Sincerely thank Dr. Chris Callison Burch for his tremendous contributions and great efforts, and many thanks to Dr. Joel Tetreault for his willingness to take on this important role for the ACL! Additionally, two Editors-in-Chief (EiCs) of TACL, Dr. Roi Reichart and Dr. Asli Celikyilmaz, will also step down at the end of this year, and the two new EiCs are being targeted and recommended. The successful publication and increasing influence of TACL cannot be separated from their significant contributions, and we express our sincere gratitude to them!

--ACL 2025--

The 63rd Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL 2025) took place in Vienna, Austria from July 27 to August 1st, 2025. Tutorials took place on Sunday 27th, the main conference on July 28-30th and the workshops on July 31st - Aug. 1st. This year 1,699 regular papers and 1,392 Findings papers were selected and accepted from around 8,360 submissions (Across December 2024 & February 2025 ARR). The acceptation ratios are 20.30% and 16.70% separately. The submission number has created a new historical record for ACL. The conference program also includes 2 keynotes speakers, Dr. Luke Zettlemoyer, University of Washington, and Dr. Verena Rieser, Google DeepMind; one panel; 28 workshops; 8 tutorials; 18 accepted Computational Linguistics papers; 42 TACL papers, 64 demo papers and 108 Industry Track papers. Similar to the organization format of previous ACL conferences in recent years, ACL 2025 was held in the hybrid way of both virtual and in-person. In person posters and virtual posters were presented synchronously.

Some Issues to discuss:

1. Selection of Area Chairs (AC) of conferences and improving the quality of paper review In recent years, with the rapid increase in the number of submissions, how to improve the quality of peer review has become a topic of concern for everyone. Many authors complain about the low quality of peer review. Some authors complain that some lower grade graduate students who have only published one paper are selected as ACs without any experience in handling manuscripts. How can we avoid such situations from happening in the future? ACL 2025 GC and PC Co-Chairs can be invited to join the discussion.

2. Organization and venue decision for the next ACL conference According to the current practice, the VP-elect is taking charge of the organization and venue selection for the next ACL conference in cooperation with ACL Event Director and Business Manager (Jenn Rachford). The VP-elect from Asia is always taking charge of the ACL conference in America, the VP-elect from America is always taking charge of the ACL conference in Europe, and the VP-elect from Europe is always taking charge of the ACL conference in Asia. This arrangement seems to always be twisted. I suggest to adjust the order. This issue was discussed in 2025Q1 meeting, but is not decided yet. I hope to discuss it again and make a final decision.

3. Issues for handling problematic papers For the reported papers that have been identified as problematic, after the authors are requested to make revisions, their right and time to appeal will be further clarified.
