EMNLP 2020

SIGDAT, the ACL special interest group on Linguistic data and corpus-based approaches to NLP has held its annual conference online from November 16th to November 20th, 2020. EMNLP 2020 was a 3 day conference preceded with 2 days of workshops and tutorials with a total of 4,069 registrations (46% regular, 52% students, 2% sponsors, exhibitors, etc.).

The paper submissions continued to show a rapid increase for 27% to 3677 papers compared to EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019 (2895 submissions). An innovation for EMNLP 2020 was the new acceptance category “Findings of ACL: EMNLP 2020”: these refer to publications that are not accepted for publication in the main conference, but are nevertheless assessed by the programme committee as solid work with sufficient substance, quality, and novelty. The acceptance rate was 22.4% for EMNLP and a further 15.5% for Findings. More information about the conference can be found at [1].
