In 2022, EACL will be part of ACL; in 2023, assuming that on-site conferences will be possible, we plan to hold the conference in Kyiv, Ukraine, with the original local organization team of 2021. We have recently started the search for a General Chair. We also start to work on EACL 2024; a call for bids will be issued very soon.

==Finances==
We are still awaiting transfer of signatories on the EACL account, which has not happened since the new treasurer took over in 2018. This transfer proves to be difficult due to the paperwork and multiple signatures required from people in various international locations.

We would also like to make our ACL shadow account our main account, as the need for a Europe-based bank account is diminishing. We have contacted David to discuss this.
ShulyWintnerhttps://www.aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=2022Q1_Reports:_EACL&diff=749372022Q1 Reports: EACL2022-02-05T16:01:15Z
ShulyWintner:

[https://2021.eacl.org EACL-2021], the 16th conference of the EACL, took place virtually on April 19-23, 2021.
It was supposed to be held in Kyiv, Ukraine but moved online due to the pandemic. The local organization team was still Kyiv-based, with members from Grammarly and from the Ukrainian Catholic University.
The general chair was Paola Merlo (University of Geneva) and the program chairs were Jörg Tiedemann (University of Helsinki) and Reut Tsarfaty (Bar Ilan University).
The conference attracted an unprecedented number of 1400 submissions and 1331 participants, from 71 different countries. 326 excellent papers were presented, reflecting an acceptance rate of 24.7%.
Free registrations were awarded to 128 student and non-student volunteers, and 143 participants received D&I awards.

In 2022, EACL will be part of ACL; in 2023, assuming that on-site conferences will be possible, we plan to hold the conference in Kyiv, Ukraine, with the original local organization team of 2021.

In future years, we would be happy to streamline the process of finding venues using a third-party PCO as an alternative to the traditional bidding and conference organization model, hopefully together with the other ACL chapters.

[https://2021.eacl.org EACL-2021], the 16th conference of the EACL, will take place virtually from 19 to 23 of April, 2021.
It was supposed to be held in Kyiv, Ukraine but moved online due to the pandemic. The local organization team is still Kyiv-based, with members from Grammarly and from the Ukrainian Catholic University.
The general chair is Paola Merlo (University of Geneva) and the program chairs are Jörg Tiedemann (University of Helsinki) and Reut Tsarfaty (Bar Ilan University).

We renewed our appearance in 2020 thanks to the help of our Student Board members. The new website is [http://eacl.org]. We strive to make the information on the website as updated as possible.

==Finances==

ShulyWintnerhttps://www.aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=2021Q1_Reports:_EACL&diff=740732021Q1 Reports: EACL2021-01-24T09:51:45Z
ShulyWintner: Created page with "==EACL Officers as of January 2021== ;Chair: * [http://cs.haifa.ac.il/~shuly/ Shuly Wintner], University of Haifa, Israel ;Secretary: * [http://georg-re.hm Georg Rehm], D..."

EACL 2014 was held in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 26–30 April 2014. The conference consisted of two days of workshops and tutorials, followed by three days of the main session.

For the first time, the program included both long and short papers. We received 317 long paper submissions, of which 78 (24.6%) were accepted; and 199 short paper submissions, of which 46 (23.1%) were accepted. 82 of the papers were presented orally, and the remaining ones were presented as posters. We also had two presentations of TACL papers. The program also included a Student Research Workshop, with 13 accepted papers (out of 42 submissions, 30%); a demo session with 26 accepted demos; 14 workshops, a record number; and 6 tutorials. Invited speakers Simon King, Ulrike von Luxburg, and Dan Roth gave excellent keynote presentations.

The scientific program was augmented by an extended social program. A reception was hosted by the city of Gothenburg on Sunday; the poster-demo session was accompanied by drinks and refreshments, in a way that encouraged many participants to spend time in front of the presentations; and a conference dinner, which was included in the registration fee, was organized in a unique setting on Tuesday. And on Wednesday, the Gothenburg traditional Cortege was held just after the closing session.

The conference attracted a record number of 512 participants, of which almost 400 attended the main session, 375 the workshops and 118, the tutorials. Careful planning of the budget by the local organizers, as well as generous support by several sponsors, resulted in a healthy surplus of about USD 20,000.
A new Information Officer, Michael Gasser (School of Informatics and Computing and the Cognitive Science Program at Indiana University), was elected in 2010.
The Chair office will be up for elections this year.
With the Exec's permission, we are moving towards a change in our constitution that will facilitate more streamlined election process, removing some of the nationality/language-community constraints imposed on the SIG when it was founded. Voting on this issue is ongoing.
We plan a meeting for 2012, probably co-located with either EACL or LREC.

This year we had a SIG meeting combined with a Workshop on Languages Resources and HLT for Semitic at LREC-2010 in Malta. The Workshop received over 30 submissions, of which some 20 were accepted; about 50 people attended the event. The Workshop included an open discussion on "Cooperation Roadmap for building sustainable Human Language Technologies for Semitic Languages", organized by Bente Maegaard, which we hope will lead to further cooperation among researchers working on Semitic languages.

We have a working web site and a low-key but active mailing list. This year we should elect Information Officers.
