The Faculty Advisors to the Student Research Workshop Chairs had their first meeting with the Student Research Workshop Chairs on 2024-09-06, about two months after the ACL 2025 kickoff meeting. We advised the SRW Chairs on various organizational and administrative points and agreed to seek funding to support participants' attendance.

On 2024-10-31 we applied for Google DeepMind Events Sponsorship and received a positive decision about a week later, netting £1000 (about $1300).

We arranged for the ACL to submit an application to the Vienna Meeting Fund for the entire ACL 2025 conference, with the understanding that $30,000 of any monies received would be earmarked for the SRW. ACL furthermore committed to an additional $10,000 of funding. Preliminary approval of the Vienna Meeting Fund application was received on 2025-03-25, bringing our total funding to about $41,300.

Maria Pacheco applied for funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) on our behalf, but at the time of writing (2025-07-03) the proposal was still pending.

Besides handling the funding applications, we advised the SRW Chairs on various organizational and administrative matters as and when needed.
