Current officers are Marcello Federico (President) and Sebastian Stüker (Secretary), both elected in October 2022. Next elections will be run within 3 years. The SIG sponsors and organizes IWSLT Conference. The 21st edition of IWSLT will be run as an ACL and ELRA sponsored event, co-located with ACL 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand on 15-16 August 2024. IWSLT 2024 will host 7 shared tasks that attracted 15 participating teams and consortia. More information in http://iwslt.org.

In Fall 2022, election of the SIG officers took place on Oct 17-21 2022 via the electionbuddy.com platform. All SIG members (122) were invited via email, 95 ballots were submitted. Sebastian Stüker (Secretary) and Marcello Federico (President) won with 50.00% of the vote each.
In 2023, the SIGSLT organized the 20th IWSLT Conference, taking place on July 13-14 and co-located with the ACL Conference in Toronto. The Conference hosted shared tasks addressing 9 scientific challenges in spoken language translation: simultaneous and offline translation, automatic subtitling and dubbing, speech to speech translation, multilingual, dialect and low-resource speech translation, and formality control. The shared tasks attracted a total of 37 submissions by 29 teams,
which sets a new record in the history of IWSLT. The conference also received 14 submissions of scientific papers, 8 of which have been accepted for presentation.
Hence, the IWSLT 2023 program will include in total 45 papers (37+8), 32% more than in IWSLT 2022.
The growing interest towards spoken language translation is also witnessed by the constantly increasing number of shared task organizers and contributors to the overview paper, almost evenly distributed across industry and academia. See iwslt.org for details.
