Past and Future Elections
The last elections were held in October 2013, as planned. Three new information officiers joined the board. The next elections are planned later this year, probably in October (2016).

Members
The current SIGSEM membership counts 877 members.
We have started cleaning up the database with members, by removing registered members whose email addresses aren't valid anymore after a couple of email bounces, of people who we can't reach otherwise.
There is an active, moderated mailinglist. Our website, SIGSEM, is wiki-based and is regularly updated by SIGSEM's information officers.
Major SIGSEM Events: IWCS and *SEM
IWCS-2015 took place at Queen Mary University of London. The main conference was held Wednesday 15th to Friday 17th April, with a day of workshops on Tuesday 14th, and a hackathon on the previous weekend 11-12th. There were 22 long papers (36% of the submissions received) and 12 short papers (72%).
The next IWCS is planned for 2017.

The *SEM events are jointly organized by SIGSEM and SIGLEX.
*SEM-2014 took place in Dublin, collocated with COLING (overall acceptance rate 24%).
*SEM-2015 took place in Denver, Colorado, collocated with NAACL (98 submissions, overall acceptance rate including posters 37%).

There is an active, moderated mailinglist. Our website, SIGSEM, is wiki-based and is regularly updated by SIGSEM's information officers.
Members
The current SIGSEM membership counts 876 members.
We have started cleaning up the database with members, by removing registered members whose email addresses aren't valid anymore after a couple of email bounces, of people who we can't reach otherwise.
There is a reasonably active, moderated mailinglist. See SIGSEM.

Major SIGSEM Events: IWCS and *SEM
The major SIGSEM/SIGLEX event in 2014 will be *SEM-2014, which will take place in Dublin, collocated with COLING (formally organized as a two-day COLING workshop). *SEM-2013 received 90 submissions of which 14 long and 8 short were accepted (acceptance rate: 24%).
IWCS-2015 will take place at Queen Mary University of London.

Major SIGSEM Events: IWCS and *SEM
The major SIGSEM event of 2013 was IWCS-2013, which took place in Potsdam, Germany. This was a four-day conference (including five workshops and an open-space afternoon) attracting over a 100 computational semanticists. IWCS-2013 received 60 long submissions and 22 short submissions (plus 3 long submissions that were accepted as short). Accepted were 25 long and 16 short papers, resulting in an acceptance rate of 41.7% for long papers and 64% for short papers.
Two SIGSEM board members took care of the organisation: Alexander Koller (local matters) and Katrin Erk (programme matters). There are three bids to organize IWCS-2015.

Last year (2012), SIGSEM and SIGLEX co-organised the start of new conference, *SEM, which took place in Montreal at NAACL. We see this as a very positive move towards collaboration of the SIGLEX and SIGSEM communities, which have a large overlap in research interests, but historically originated from different angles. See 2012Q3_Reports:_SIGLEX for a more detailed report on *SEM. The second edition of *SEM is collocated with NAACL in Atlanta this year. Plans for *SEM-2014 are currently discussed between the SIGLEX and SIGSEM boards.
There is a reasonably active, moderated mailinglist. See SIGSEM.

Major SIGSEM Events: IWCS and *SEM

General Schedule
Submission deadline for tutorial proposals: March 6, 2013<br>
Notification of acceptance: April 3, 2013<br>
Tutorial descriptions due: May 15, 2013<br>
Tutorial course material due: June 7, 2013<br>
Tutorial date: August 4, 2013<br>
We coordinated the deadlines with Publication Chairs and Local Organizers.<br>

Call and selection procedure
The call for proposals (CFP) was first posted at the ACL website in December
2012 and a final call was also sent to high-volume NLP/computational linguistics
mailing lists (e.g., CORPORA list, linguist list, SIGSEM members).
Additionally, the chairs have approached experts in the field and contacted researchers who expressed an
interest in giving a tutorial and provided the details of the submission and reviewing process.
We received 25 proposals and
accepted seven tutorials; six of these were accepted as half-day tutorials and
one as a full-day tutorial.
Submissions
were handled through the start system
(https://www.softconf.com/acl2013/tutorials).
iWe used the following criteria for evaluation:
appropriateness, technical fit, novelty, potential interest, presenters, and
experience. All proposals were evaluated by both chairs; the final selection
was based on the scores we assigned through start. The final selection was
uncontroversial (we agreed on the best of the submissions).

Proceedings
We have received the final abstracts for the tutorials (which include a
description as well as a schedule). These were submitted through the START
system and have been passed along to the publications chair. We are currently
in the process of collecting all of the course materials from each of the
presenters. There has been some confusion as to what will be done with this
material and what form it should take. Many presenters have hundreds of slides
for their courses and no other course information. In the future, if we wish to
have separate course-notes in addition to the slides, we recommend making this
clear to the authors from the start.
Members
The current SIGSEM membership counts 841 members.

We have started cleaning up the database with members, by removing registered members whose email addresses aren't valid anymore after a couple of email bounces, of people who we can't reach otherwise.
Two SIGSEM board members (Alexander Koller and Katrin Erk) took care of the organisation.

The current board is composed of:
* Johan Bos (President);
* Katrin Erk (Secretary);
* Luciana Benotti (Information Officer);
* Paul Buitelaar (Information Officer);
* Alexander Koller; (Information Officer);
* Christian Pietsch (Information Officer).

Some of contact addresses have changed, please look here for the latest updates. Next elections are planned for March 2013.

Members
The current SIGSEM membership counts 788 members. We have started cleaning up the database with members, by removing registered members whose email addresses aren't valid anymore after a couple of email bounces, of people who we can't reach otherwise. There is an active, moderated mailinglist, see SIGSEM.

Major SIGSEM Events: *SEM and IWCS
In 2012 SIGSEM and SIGLEX co-organised the start of new conference, *SEM, which took place in Montreal at NAACL. We see this as a very positive move towards collaboration of the SIGLEX and SIGSEM communities, which have a large overlap in research interests, but historically originated from different angles. See 2012Q3_Reports:_SIGLEX for a more detailed report on *SEM. The organisation of the next major SIGSEM event is IWCS-2013, which will take place in Potsdam, Germany in March next year. Two board members (Alexander Koller and Katrin Erk) take care of the organisation.
We have started cleaning up the database with members, by removing registered members whose email addresses aren't valid anymore after a couple of email bounces, of people who we can't reach otherwise. There is an active, moderated mailinglist.

Events: *SEM
In 2012 SIGSEM and SIGLEX co-organised the start of new conference, *SEM, which took place in Montreal at NAACL. We see this as a very positive move towards collaboration of the SIGLEX and SIGSEM communities, which have a large overlap in research interests, but historically originated from different angles. See 2012Q3_Reports:_SIGLEX

Events: IWCS
The organisation of the next major SIGSEM event is IWCS-2013, which will take place in Potsdam, Germany in March next year. Two board members (Alexander Koller and Katrin Erk) take care of the organisation.

IWCS-2011 took place in Oxford, UK, on 12-14 January 2011. A conference report was written for SIGSEM by Elena Cabrio. IWCS was a succesful event, with 110 submissions and 50 accepted papers (30 long, 20 short). The next IWCS is tentativily planned for January 2013 in Potsdam, Germany.
