Amirzeldes: SIGANN 2022 Q3 report

== Membership ==

SIGANN membership is approximately 150 members.

== Officers ==

In October 2021, Amir Zeldes (Georgetown University) and Ines Rehbein (Universität Mannheim) were newly elected to the positions of President and Secretary respectively, replacing Nancy Ide and Adam Meyers.

== Committee ==

The SIGANN Committee is comprised of past and present Program Committee Chairs for SIGANN's annual workshop, the Linguistic Annotation Workshop (LAW). The committee currently includes Claire Bonial, Stefanie Dipper, Annemarie Friedrich, Chu-Ren Huang, Jena DC Hwang, Nancy Ide, Lori Levin, Adam Meyers, Antonio Pareja-Lora, Massimo Poesio, Sameer Pradhan, Ines Rehbein, Nathan Schneider, Manfred Stede, Katrin Tomanek, Fei Xia, Nianwen Xue, Amir Zeldes, Heike Zinsmeister.

== Workshop ==

The SIG's major activity is the organization of the annual workshop. In 2022 the Sixteenth Linguistic Annotation Workshop (LAW-XVI) was held in person and in hybrid virtual format in conjunction with LREC 2022, on June 24, 2022 in Marseille, by PC chairs Sameer Pradhan and Sandra Kübler. The workshop included 15 accepted talks and 5 posters, detailed on the workshop website:

https://cemantix.org/workshops/law/xvi/

The special theme for the workshop was '''Annotating Multimodality: The Impact of Multimodal Language Understanding on Annotation Practices and Representations'''.

== SIGANN GUIDO - A Repository of Annotation Guidelines ==

In an initiative led by Annemarie Friedrich in collaboration with Ines Rehbein, Nathan Schneider and Amir Zeldes, a pilot repository to index different annotation guidelines has been started at https://sigann.github.io/guido/. We are hoping to gather community support to expand this resource and make annotation guidelines more easily accessible and findable online.

== Website and mailing list ==

We have a working website that lists upcoming events of interest to our members and links to LAW proceedings. The website was updated in this reporting period and is now found at:

https://sigann.github.io/

We also have a mailing list that is used for notices and discussion, and was migrated to a new Google Groups address for easier maintenance during this reporting period.
