&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;New page&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div&gt;I&amp;#039;m a Associate Professor at the  Grupo de Procesamiento de Lenguaje Natural del Instituto de Computación, Facultad de Ingeniería, Universidad de la República, Montevideo, Uruguay.  My main research interest is Natural Language Processing, in particular the application of Machine Learning methods to NLP. My PhD thesis studied the application of supervised learning methods to the detection of speculative language in scientific texts. I have also studied finite stat formalisms and their application to information extraction, shallow parsing and morphology.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
