The IJCNLP 2017 cordially invites proposals for shared tasks at the conference.
The 8th International Joint Conference on Natural Language Processing (IJCNLP 2017), organized by The Association for Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing (ACLCLP) and hosted by The Asian Federation of Natural Language Processing (AFNLP) Associations, will be held in Taipei, Taiwan from November 27 to December 1, 2017. IJCNLP 2017 will feature full papers, short papers, demonstrations, tutorials, and workshops.
The topics of shared tasks include any technology and application of natural language processing (NLP), e.g., word segmentation, parsing, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and question answering.  The conference welcomes impactful proposals dedicated to low-resource languages and multimodal NLP applications.
The contents of a proposal should include the following (in 2–4 pages):
o   a brief description of the shared task,
o   a description of the data sets that will be used in the shared task and their readiness,
o   a plan on how the submitted systems will be evaluated,
o   the impact of the tasks on the NLP community and on society, and
o   any other relevant information you consider necessary.
We recommend the shared task proposers follow the tentative timeline outlined below where feasible to allow sufficient development time for the participants.
