John Nerbonne inducted into the KNAW

In September 2005, John Nerbonne, former ACL President, was honored through his induction into the Royal Netherlands Academy of Science (KNAW).

The Academy has a maximum of 200 regular members under the age of 65. Beside regular members the Academy has resting members (regular members above the age of 65), foreign members and correspondents. Those eligible for membership are active scientists with an excellent scientific record. Members are appointed for life by the Divisions.

Final Call for Bids - 56th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics

The Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) hereby invite proposals to host the conference in the Asia-Australasia-Oceania region in July or August 2018. At this time, we seek preliminary draft proposals from prospective bidders in the Asia-Pacific region. Promising bidders will be asked to provide additional information for the final selection.

Remko Scha The Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) mourns the passing of Remko Jan Hendrik Scha (15 September 1945 – 9 November 2015), who made important contributions to the study of semantics, and discourse analysis through his work on Dynamic Discourse Model (with Livia Polanyi).
