Official Language
The language of the conference is English.

Climate and Clothing
In July it is summer in Uppsala and Sweden. The temperature can vary from chilly to warm, with temperatures from 15 to 25°C. Warning for occasional showers. The organisers suggest that you bring a jacket or pullover and an umbrella or raincoat. The daylight is quite long, about 14-16 hours.

Passport and Visas
Delegates are advised to contact the nearest embassy, consulate or travel agency for information about the passport and visa requirements from their country for entry to Sweden.

Local Currency/Money exchange
Swedish Krona (SEK) is the official currency in Sweden. In January 2010; Euro 1=SEK 10, USD 1=SEK 7, GBP 1=SEK 11.

An exchange office is available next to the tourist office (Forex), marked with No.\ 15 on the city map. There are plenty of cash dispensers in Uppsala. Major international credit cards are accepted in most hotels, shops and restaurants.

Electricity
In Sweden the Europlug (Type C & F) is used for electricity with two round prongs and the electrical voltage is 220/230V. 

Force Majeure
The organisers are not liable for any claims for damages and/or losses if the entire conference has to be cancelled due to a force majeure incident.

Disclaimer
The organisers are not liable for damages and/or losses of any kind which may be incurred by the conference delegates or by any other individuals accompanying them, both during the official activities as well as going to/from the conference. Delegates are responsible for their own safety and belongings.

Insurance and Vaccinations
The registration fee does not cover insurance for the delegates. The organisers recommend that delegates take out insurance in their home country to cover pre-journey cancellation for personal reasons and necessary insurance to cover accidents, medical expenses and loss of personal belongings during the visit. No vaccinations are needed when visiting Sweden.

Emergency phone numbers
You should call 112 if anything happens which means that an ambulance, the police or the fire brigade need to be called out. 112 is a special emergency number you can call wherever you are from a fixed or a mobile telephone. 

International Calls
Dial 00 + country code + area code + phone number.  For example, to call the US, dial 00+1, Germany 00+49. 

Medical services
Uppsala University hospital, Akademiska sjukhuset is located in
central Uppsala, marked with No. 17 on the city map. Telephone: +46 18
611 0000. The emergency room is called "Akuten" in Swedish.

Pharmacy
There are several pharmacies in Uppsala. Look for a sign "Apotek". One is marked on the city map with No. 16.  

Grocery stores and other retail outlets might also sell certain non-prescription drugs to customers over the age of 18.

Shopping
Most stores in Uppsala are open 10.00-19.00 on weekdays and 10.00-17.00 on Saturdays. Some stores are open on Sundays as well. Grocery stores usually have longer opening hours. 

Eating
There are plenty of restaurants in Uppsala. You find information about some of them which we recommended in your conference bag.  

Smoking
Smoking is not allowed in the conference venues, nor in any public indoor establishments such as restaurants and bars.
