The ACL holds an international meeting every year. In July last year, the 40th conference of the ACL in Philadelphia brought together approximately 700 professionals from around the world. A dramatic increase in number of participants suggests that the opportunity for sharing ideas regarding computational linguistics is highly valued, with rapid development in the Internet and the Web-based information exchanges. The fact that one of the ACL 2002's invited speakers was a researcher from Google Inc. is consistent with the increasing trend of coordinating computational linguistics with other modes in multimedia systems.

The continued success and growth of the ACL annual conferences also ascertain the development of natural language processing technologies that enable access to information regardless of language barriers or the human-machine border have been a key factor for global sharing of knowledge. The ACL intends to bring together researchers and developers working in the areas of computational linguistics and offer opportunities to share their perspectives, describe work in progress, and present their results. Aspects of computational linguistics' application field include: Semantic Web, Robot, mobile communications, speech translation, intelligent information contents and e-journals. The ACL also holds ten to fifteen workshops in conjunction with its main conference. These workshops attract many participants every year and facilitate active discussions by shedding light on emerging technologies within the field of natural language processing.

The 41st conference of the ACL will be held in Sapporo, Japan in July 2003. On behalf of the ACL, we would like to invite you to consider being a sponsor of the ACL2003 conference. 2. Registration Procedures:
