Notice on currency: The ACL membership comes from around the world. However, because of limitations due to 
our current bank accounts and access to on-line payments, we are currently only able to accept online payment in US Dollars (USD). 
Therefore all membership fees and associated costs are quoted in USD. In an effort to compensate our non-US members 
for the inconvenience and cost in bank conversions, we provide a 3% discount for those who are paying from outside the US.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership in the Association for Computational Linguistics is for the calendar year, regardless of when dues are paid.
Membership includes a full year of the ACL journal, Computational Linguistics, reduced registration at most ACL-sponsored
conferences, and discounts on ACL-sponsored publications.

Couples with the same mailing address may be Joint Members: they will receive only one set of publications, but each will be eligible for
all other member benefits. The "primary member" should complete the entire membership form with payment; the "partner member"
should complete the Personal Information Section only (indicating JOINT with [primary member] in the Mailing Address field)
and select "I am already a member" from the options above.

Students taking a full-time program and not earning a regular income may become Student Members with copy of current Student ID.

Other Organization Membership ID

The ACL and the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA) have agreed to offer 25% discounts on membership fees
of either organization who are not currently members of the other organization (i.e., ACL members who are not currently members
of ISCA may save 25% on the ISCA membership fee and visa versa.).

The ACL and the American Machine Translation Association (AMTA) have also agreed to offer reciprocal discounts of 10% to members
of the other organization.

Both discount membership agreements are for first-time memberships and only apply for one (the first) year of membership.

Hard Currency Problem Country Student 1-year: $15.00

Also available is a discount to those members from countries with hard currency problems. We hope this discount will allow
for more people from these countries to become a part of the ACL and enjoy its benefits. Such members will receive the online version
of the journals but no hardcopies will be sent. The reduced rate of $30 for regular members and $15 for full-time students
is possible for people who meet both of the following criteria:

  1. Their normal place of employment is in Mexico, Central or South America, Asia (excluding Japan, Hong Kong,
    Korea, and Singapore), Africa, Central/Eastern Europe (countries east of Finland, Germany, Austria, or Italy and
    north of Greece and Turkey) and
  2. Their annual income is below the equivalent of $20,000 USD for regular members or $5,000 USD for full-time students.

To obtain this Discount Rate, please submit a signed statement which includes your place of usual employment and that your annual
income falls beneath the specified qualification limit along with the Membership/Order form. If paying online, please submit

THE DON AND BETTY WALKER INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FUND:

Set up to honor Don and Betty Walker, The Don and Betty Walker International Student Fund supports select student travel to ACL meetings.
Contributions may be tax deductible, and companies may provide matching funds; check local regulations.

Receipts are available from the ACL office upon request or you may print a copy of this payment as verification of your donation.
