The Special Interest Group of the ​Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) on Web as Corpus.

Objectives

  • to promote interest in the use of the web as a source of linguistic data, and as an object of study in its own right;
  • to provide members of the ACL with a special interest in the web-as-corpus with a means of exchanging news of recent research developments and other matters of interest;
  • to sponsor meetings and workshops on the web as corpus that appear to be timely and worthwhile.

The current SIGWAC officers term is 01 August 2018 – 31 July 2021

Events

After the last SIGWAC workshop (WAC-XI at ​Corpus Linguistics 2017, Birmingham, UK, 24–27 July 2017), WAC-XII is currently being organised (proposal to be submitted to a major langage technology conference) by the organisers: Adrien Barbaresi (BBAW, Berlin, Germany), Felix Bildhauer (IDS Mannheim, Germany), Roland Schäfer (FU Berlin, Germany), Egon Stemle (EURAC, Bolzano, Italy). WAC-XII is expected to take place in 2020.
